Dr Nicole Cameron is a Clinical Psychologist who has recently joined the Go Glow team to provide assessment and therapeutic interventions for clients.
Training: She completed her training at Massey University in 2019 through the Doctor of Clinical Psychology pathway. Her doctoral dissertation explored the psychosocial interactions of young people with cancer, and the impact on their development. Nicole has worked for Child Development Services, Cancer and Health Conditions Services in Palmerston North. Her work under the Cancer and Health Conditions service provided psychological interventions across the lifespan, including processing grief, adjustment to medical diagnoses, and treating anxiety, depression, and trauma). Nicole mainly focused on completing cognitive assessments for children (largely diagnostic assessments for ID and ASD) and neuropsychological assessments for the General Clinic service.
We welcome referrals from organisations and the families directly, although we will have an initial intake discussion to ensure that any safety concerns or moderate-severe mental health issues are referred to the appropriate services. Nicole is currently only providing therapeutic interventions with Go Glow, however we hope to offer assessment services in the near future.
Initial Assessment (up to 90-mins)- $240
Therapy Session (50 mins) - $180
Interests: Unsurprisingly, Nicole’s primary clinical interests are in child and family psychology, cognitive assessment, and parental mental health. She is passionate about helping our young people to grow into the best versions of themselves, and encouraging them to understand their unique capabilities as strengths. She strongly believes that supporting families by ensuring they have the necessary coping strategies and resources is crucial when raising children. Nicole uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches depending on the individual or family. She works part-time around her young family, who like to keep her on her toes!
